quote of the day
I have but one passion: to enlighten those who have been kept in the dark, in the name of humanity which has suffered so much and is entitled to happiness. My fiery protest is simply the cry of my very soul. ~ Éile Zola
{Audio Book} Bridge to Neverland Jun 18, 12

The Bridge to Never Land (Peter and the Starcatchers, #5)
by Dave Barry

Currently listening to this audio book in the car. It's a fun adventure story, a modern take on Peter Pan and Neverland.

There is much page turning listening, we can't wait to hear what comes next. Sometimes my mom wishes she could listen to it when I'm not there...

{sound + words} Mar 21, 12

I am currently listening to The Beatles One CD and my favorite song is The Yellow Submarine. I like learning all the words and singing along.

"When I am by myself, I like singing so I'm not lonely."

Our last audio book from the library was "M.T. Anderson's Thrilling Tales Whales On Stilts" by M.T. Anderson. We had also read this book, it's fun and funny. Three good friends on an adventure to save the town of Pelt.

We were lucky to find another MT Anderson auido book, same three friends on a new adventure called "Jasper Dash and the Flame-Pits of Delaware (Pals in Peril Tale)". It's so funny that my mom and I laugh out loud in the car while we are listening to it. Highly recommend.

Library books I like this week are

"I have a little problem, said the bear" by Janisch, Heinz;

Bones, brains and DNA: the human genome and human evolution / by Ian Tattersall & Rob DeSalle (guess who is reading this book to me...)

Punctuation takes a vacation / by Robin Pulver
This book is fun like a story, but it also teaches you stuff like what all the punctuation do to a sentence!

Poetry Fox @ NC Pride Feb 12, 12

Our little family was all decked out (beyblade, sequined afro michael jackson and glittery pink tutu) walking down Ninth Street when we happened upon this Poetry Fox!

Poetry Fox sat at a desk with a manual typewriter. Any kid or human could walk up to him, give him a word or subject and he'd make up a poem for you on the spot.

He'd type it on his typewriter, sign it with block letter stamps F - O - X and voila! a personal, fox written poem, just for you!

To make a living, the Fox accepted tips or live chickens. Hey, a Foxes have to eat too you know!

NC Pride and Jesus Toast Feb 12, 12

Here in Durham, we take our Pride week seriously. That is to say, we never miss it! But fun is the main item on the agenda.

We dress up and head to Ninth Street and Duke's East Campus.

This year, one of the highlights was Poetry Fox with a real typewriter! N had never seen one in person (a manual typewriter or a typing fox).

Then we watched the whole parade, it's a mix of civic groups, university students, churches and local businesses that support Pride, gender equity, and gay rights.

Roller skating Jesus tossed this holy toast to N.

Really, if you are a human, why wouldn't you support the expression of everyone being human!?

Star of the Week Feb 12, 12

At CFS in Sky Class, every child gets to be a Star for a whole week. At the end of the week on Friday, The Star is rolled into an interview on a red carpet wearing a cape and a crown.
The Star is then interviewed in front of the whole class and special guests (parents).

Happy Star Week N!

"When I was little . . . Apr 03, 10

"When I was little do you want to know what I used to think?

That little bugs would come out (from the cd) and play instruments and when the cd came out (ejected) the bugs would go back in"

Piko Guys! Mar 20, 10

Spring is here!

Yesterday, after school, it was a really warm, sunny day, I lifted my shirt and said "Piko, piko, piko!" *

All my friends started saying it too, "piko, piko, piko"

Then, we just took off our shirts. We took off our shoes and socks. The sand felt good between my toes.

I gathered everyone into a circle and we gave the cheer:

"One. Two. Three. Piko Guys!!!"

* Piko means bellybutton in Hawaiian.
